From The Pastor's Heart To You !Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and He has given His life for us, the sheep. As an under-shepherd of the flock of Christ, I also have a heart for God's flock. This is the heart that we are all to have for the body of Christ. Jesus the example of this: He actually gave His life for the body of Christ. While Jesus actually gave up His own life, we are to give up our life in the sense of how we conduct our daily lives. We are to be His extended hands to reach the world. People in this world are the lost sheep, and we need to be willing to pull them out of the difficult ditches of life and untangle them from the fences of religion. Jesus said that a good shepherd will leave the 99 just to find the one lost sheep. This is the heart of the Good Shepherd. This is what every Christian needs to have. We also need to disciple one another like Jesus has discipled us, with a caring, patient heart that is always showing us the way, correcting us and leading us with love and tenderness. A heart that would never leave us, but always protect us from the wolves in the world. This is the heart of the Good Shepherd which we are all called to possess. We should not be so concerned about our own lives that we forget we are called to follow the example of the Good Shepherd. John 10:11 (KJV) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. |
